A Prayer for Unity, Justice, and Love

Here is a prayer based on the beautiful “I Have a Dream” Speech by Dr. Martin Luther King:

A Prayer for Unity, Justice, and Love

Divine Creator of all,

We come before You today with hope in our hearts and dreams in our souls. Like the visionaries before us, we dream of a world where love triumphs over hatred, and unity conquers division.

We dream of a day when justice flows like a mighty river, reaching every corner of the earth, and no one is left behind. When the color of our skin, the language of our prayers, or the person we love no longer defines our worth, but where we are seen as reflections of Your divine image.

We dream of a day when the wounds of history are healed,

When oppression is a distant memory,

And when the voices of the silenced rise in a harmonious chorus of freedom.

Grant us courage, O Source of Light, to stand up when others sit,

To speak truth when others are silent,

And to act in love even when it is the harder road to take.

Help us to teach our children the power of peace,

To see each other not as enemies, but as brothers and sisters,

To walk hand in hand, even when the path is steep and uncertain.

May we remember that we are not powerless. Each of us carries the spark of transformation.

Let us be instruments of Your peace,

Builders of bridges where there are walls,

And sowers of seeds where there is despair.

We pray for those burdened by injustice today,

For the hungry, the homeless, the oppressed, and the weary.

Lift their spirits, Lord, and help us to lift their burdens.

And as Dr. King dreamed, let us dream too:

Of a day when "justice rolls down like waters and righteousness like a mighty stream."

Of a day when "we will be able to hew out of the mountain of despair a stone of hope."

Of a day when all Your children—of every race, every creed, and every nation—will join hands and declare together,

"We are free at last."

Until that day, guide our steps, ignite our hearts, and give us the strength to dream boldly and act courageously, in the name of love.

Amen.
